Sherry Brady, Owner, Director and Instructor
at Studio Joe in Scottsdale, Arizona, has been providing Pilates Method
training for 9 years. Sherry began practicing Pilates in 1991 with Juanita
Lopez, a Chicago-based teacher trainer, while studying classical ballet.
Pilates became the exercise-conditioning program she had been looking for:
a method that makes one strong yet flexible--two qualities essential to
ballet. Sherry began teaching Pilates herself in 1993, and would later
become certified under the tutelage of Romana Kryzanowska, Joseph Pilates'
direct protege and inheritor of the Pilates method of body
conditioning.
Sherry is a New York Pilates Guild certified
instructor, which requires a minimum of 600 hours of Pilates training and
testing. She is also a certified massage therapist. Her excellent
reputation as a neuromuscular therapist led the Joffrey Ballet to employ
her as their Company therapist when they relocated to Chicago. She
remained in that position from 1995-1997, before deciding to dedicate
herself full-time to teaching Pilates.
Sherry’s extensive knowledge in anatomy and movement enabled her to take
her Pilates teaching to a higher level in 1998, when she decided to
relocate Studio Joe from Chicago to Scottsdale.
